A Brief Overview on Muscle Testing At birth we are born perfect. All muscles are completely balanced, nerves One must bear in mind we are constantly under stress. We are under physical stress from gravity, our occupations, and from straining, lifting, slipping, and jarring. We are under dietary stress from the foods we eat and/or the lack of proper foods consumed by our bodies. Additional sources of stress are a lack of sleep as well as a lack of exercise. Our emotions cause a great deal of stress. In fact, every problem in our lives, whether big of small, whether related to our family or our job is a source of stress. As you can see, there are many types and degrees of stress. Our bodies, as a rule, adapt to all of them just fine. However, sometimes we are subjected to stresses beyond what our bodies can handle. When this occurs our bodies either shut down or turn-off certain parts in an effort to protect other parts of the body. One could relate this to the breaker switches in a house shutting off if the wiring is overloaded. The systems that shut down can include nerves, blood vessels, lymphatic drainage, muscles and actual organs. Further, if these systems are left turned-off for an extended period of time, malfunction and disease can occur in the tissues involved. Ultimately, this could result in a number of problems including kidney malfunctions, stomach problems, heart disorders, generalized pain, headaches, back pain, etc. This of course depends on the tissues involved. As long as all the parts of our bodies are working normally, good health will be the end result. However, when systems shut down, muscles become blocked and do not work. It is important to point out here that for every muscle pulling in one direction, there is a muscle on the other side pulling in exactly the opposite direction. In other words, all muscles are in counter-balance with another. If one muscle pulls 90 pounds of pressure, then the muscle opposite if must also pull 90 pounds of pressure. As long as all muscles are balanced, we have good posture and our spines are held in their normal position. However, as an example, if a muscle becomes blocked today in lower part of the spine, you will not feel any symptoms. Instead, the muscle that normally balances the blocked muscle will begin to pull harder, due to the imbalance. It will continue to get tighter and pull harder until one day, it will be under such severe stress that it will pull the part of the spine that it attaches to out of place. When the vertebra goes out of place, the nerve gets pinched or irritated. It then develops a loss of function in the tissues that the pinched nerve supplies and the bodies resistance is lowered and disease can occur. The time that elapses from when the muscle first becomes blocked until the symptoms of the disease appear may be as long as 10-15 months. In other words by the time the symptoms are present, we very well may have been sick for a long time. Muscles get blocked and turned-off for many reasons. It can be due to the cranial stress center of the skull being turned-off. It can be due to cranial bones being jammed, a vertebra out of place, or even bones jammed in our feet. All the different testing that I do is to find out specifically what is turning the muscles and systems of the body off, and to treat and correct the problem accordingly. As the muscles are turned-on again, our spines re-balanced and thus our posture returns to normal. My treatment consists of the following:
During the testing procedures, I will be touching spots on your head, spine, feet, etc. I will sometimes push on a joint or stretch it to see if it is normal. For every person's health problem there is something turned-off in the body. All we have to do is find it and turn it on again so the body can heal itself. Re-balancing the spinal muscles, getting the pressure of the nerves, and turning all the systems on is what gets sick people well. Once you are healthy, it is important to have regular chiropractic checkups because to reiterate what was pointed out above, we are constantly under various types of stress. I want to be sure to keep everything turned-on so that you can lead a healthy and happy life, doing all the things you enjoy, without disability or pain. |
